Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – One of the largest concerts to ever take place in Central New York wrapped up late Tuesday night.
Roughly 18,000 fans made their way to Alliance Bank Stadium to take in the sounds of the Dave Matthews Band, which put on a two and a half hour performance.
DMB's playlist included hits such as "Crush" and "Crash (Into Me)", and also covered Peter Gabriel's "Solsbury Hill" and Jimi Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower".
Crews started working on the concert around 8:00 Monday night, transforming the field into a stage, fit for world-class performers. They put protective flooring over the outfield, which will be taken off as soon as the concert finishes.
Fans lined up outside Alliance Bank Stadium as early as 5:00 Tuesday morning.
“I brought my iPod, which has nothing but Dave on it, so I’m getting pumped for the concert,” says Anthony Bielak, a DMB fan.
“We have a lot of good people around here and music, and five-hour energy drinks,” says Kristin Lamb, another fan.
To kill time, fans played cards, listened to music and even tried to recreate their favorite DMB songs.
“We’ve been chatting with Dave fans. Dave fans are cool! We all unite and chat and I’m already friends on Facebook, so it’s way cool!,” says Andrea Haight, a fan.
Syracuse Police told fans they were allowed to enjoy "very peaceful picnics," which means they can hang out by their vehicle as long as they’re not causing any trouble
